Steve was hired on the T in April of 1986 at Charlestown Garage as a part-time bus driver. He then transferred to the Green Line in 1987 and was elected as the Barn Captain and served in this capacity from 1996 to 1998. 

He was then elected Vice-President/Asst Business Agent of the Carmen's Union from 1999-2001. In 2002, Steve became the President/BA of the Union and serves in this office today. He is a Vice-President of the AFL-CIO, a delegate to the Greater Boston Labor Council and delegate to the New England Joint Conference. Steve also serves the Union on the Pension Board. 

Steve resides in Brookline with his wife, Mai, and their twin sons, Matthew and Michael and their youngest son, Stephan. He grew up in Mission Hill and Jamaica Plain and graduated from Jamaica Plain High in 1979.
