Next Stop: New Hampshire?
By Galen Moore, Boston Now
3/4/08 - The MBTA may expand Commuter Rail service into New Hampshire.
The Lawrence Eagle-Tribune reported the T is negotiating to buy land in Plaistow to relocate its Haverhill layover facility.
That land could include a new Commuter Rail station, State Sen. Steven Baddour told the Eagle-Tribune. Tracks used by Amtrak's Downeaster service already run through Plaistow.
The T hopes to relocate its Haverhill layover facility, spokesman Joe Pesaturo confirmed. The T will "consider any new opportunities" arising from the relocation, he said, but he declined to answer specific questions about a New Hampshire expansion.
Baddour, D-Methuen, could not be reached for comment.
