Are Rising Gas Prices To Blame?

4/3/08 - More people are using the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority trains and buses this year than last year, according to MBTA officials.

New numbers released by the agency Thursday show that ridership was up nearly 10 percent from January 2007 to January 2008 and from February 2007 and February 2008.

In January 2007, 29,423,000 commuters used MBTA services, compared to 30,979,000 in January 2008. In February 2007, 27,424,000 people boarded MBTA trains, boats and buses, compared to 30,576,000 people in February 2008.
